Thinking about Parenting

23 February 2015

My research is investigating how aspects of the caregiving environment can play a role in the emotional wellbeing of parents and children. The study focusses on how parents think about/interact with their child, and their views on their wellbeing, and that of their child. The aim is to help establish how best to support parents to promote the wellbeing of both themselves and their children. Also, within adoptive families, we aim to establish factors that contribute to the success of placements.

About the researcher

I have an interest in child development, and wish to contribute to research focussing on how elements of the caregiving environment/ relationship can contribute to positive developmental trajectories in children, or conversely, can impact negatively upon a child’s social, emotional and cognitive development. I also wish to help inform interventions for children most at risk of social and emotional difficulties, to optimise their future wellbeing, and that of their parents.
